Montreal Shamrocks GAC will be hosting their annual May tournament next Saturday, May 18th. This year will be one of the largest yet with teams travelling from Toronto, Ottawa, Quebec City and Halifax. There will be a Senior and Junior Mens Gaelic Football tournament, a Ladies Gaelic Football tournament and a coed Hurling tournament.
This year will be the first edition with a Hurling tournament. Old rivals, Montreal and Ottawa will also get the chance to play the Halifax Gaels. The Haligonians, who only formed last year, are looking forward to competing in their first competitive action so far, having only played St.Johns Avalon Harps in a friendly last year.
With a huge growth of players in Ottawa recently, it looks like it will be an interesting affair. The players fitness will be put to the test as most players will be playing a days Gaelic football as well. It may just go down to those extra volunteers from the Toronto and Quebec teams who jump in on the day.
There will be an after-party in Hurleys bar on rue Crescent at 8pm that night. Finger food, live music and discounted drinks for all players.
Heres to a great 2-4 weekend in Montreal!
