Hurling and Camogie arrive in Fort McMurray

Shamrocks players Gary Dolan (L) and Shane Gilhooley (R)

I'm delighted to hear that the Fort McMurray Shamrocks will be starting a hurling team this year. With an already successful Mens and Ladies Gaelic football program, the club are hoping to bring Hurling and Camogie to the people of Fort Mc. Its great to see new teams popping up all over the country.

From fortmcmurraytoday.com:
“Between all the clubs in the Western Canada group, we put in a request to try and start up hurling in the area,” said Shamrocks GAA president Gary Dolan.

“We got a grant from the GAA, so Edmonton, Fort McMurray and Calgary are going to be getting 30 hurls and 30 helmets for the club and 30 balls to start it up. We’re going to promote it here in Fort Mac.”
