Astronaut Chris Hadfield tries his hand at hurling

The most popular astronaut in the world, Chris Hadfield, picked up a hurl on his recent trip to Ireland. The Canadian was in the country to volunteer his services to Tourism Ireland. The Former International Space Station (ISS) commander has agreed to become a tourism ambassador for the country.

As part of the agreement, he will be making videos promoting some of Ireland's most famous attractions including Titanic Belfast, The Wild Atlantic Way and the Guinness Storehouse. He took time out of his busy trip to pick up a hurl and give the sport a go. First at the Na Fianna GAA Club in Glasnevin, Dublin, at Croke Park and then again with the Antrim hurlers in Cushendall.

With over 1 million followers on Twitter, and his cover of the song Space Oddity on the ISS hitting almost 21 million views, it seems a lot of people are interested in what the space man is up to. Lets hope all his tourism work helps spread our ancient sport to a greater audience.
