Concordia Students Form Canada's First University Team

With the help of their Irish professor and the Montreal Shamrocks GAA club, a group of Concordia students have formed Canada's first ever varsity team "Na hOglaigh - The Warriors". The team have been learning the skills from Shamrock volunteers, and have gone from strength to strength.

They are actively recruiting and hope the club will grow in the University. They have also set their sights on competing at the NCGAA Finals in the US.

Recruitment continues
"The GAA is a great way to meet new people, from here and elsewhere, to be part of a community, learn a new sport, and more importantly discover the wonders which we are all capable of, athleticly inclined or not. Another greatness to our club is that we are also benefitting of the help from the Irish community in Montreal, both through the social media support we are getting, as well as with practices where members of the Montreal GAA are helping us get on our feet." - Na hÓglaigh Ollscoile

“It’s a lot of fun,” said Irish Studies student Patrick Mayers. “You come here, [the coaches] show you the ropes, and it doesn’t matter if you suck right away or if you’re good. Everybody’s just welcome to play and have a lot of fun.”
