Fixture: Sat June 23rd - Montreal Shamrocks V OHC`s "Capital Celts"

This Saturday the 23rd of June, The Montreal Shamrocks will travel to Ottawa to play Ottawa`s newly formed "Capital Celts".It will be a historic day of hurling for the two and hopefully will blossom into more regular games for both sides.

Started this year with the help of some of the guys from Montreal, Ottawa Hurling club held a demo and managed to gather enough interested parties to start a team. The club has gone from strength to strength with the hard work of the committee(some of whom had no prior knowledge of the game).

The club now boasts 2 training sessions a week and a committed squad that seems to grow as more people from the capital discover the game. The team is about 90% Canadian guys and most are completly new to the game. It will take something big to take down the Shamrocks.

Montreal will be travelling down to Ottawa with a small but strong team. With the match falling the day before Quebecs national holiday, St. Jean Baptiste, some of the native Montrealers wont be able to make it.  Also a couple of the players are out with injuries from the second round of the Gaelic Football Super League in Montreal last weekend. The Shamrocks will definetly be favourites on the day with more experienced players. The team is made up of a few Irish guys, some Canadians who have played for a few years and some complete newbies.Montreal hurlers played two games last year. Losing out to a strong team from Toronto in Toronto, but going on to beat the St.John Avalon Harps in Quebec City.

The game will take place at DeLaSalle highschool on St.Patrick st at 3pm on Saturday June 23rd.
There will be a pre-game practice at 2pm to polish off some skills.
After the game, players are invited to the Clocktower Brew pub in New Edinburgh at 5pm for food, drinks and a fundraising draw.

Looking forward to a great day of hurling!

#UPDATE: Montreal Shamrocks 8-10 Ottawas "Capital Celts" 2-4
